AXP to reduce workforce by 5400 |

Jan 11, 2013: Credit Card giant American Express (AXP) will reduce its global workforce of 63,500 by 5,400 at the end of 2013. AXP reported an estimated $600m of after tax charges in the fourth quarter of 2012. The charges were lower than the projected 1.2bn for the quarter.

Nov 16, 2012: British petroleum (BP) has agreed to pay 4.5 billion in fines for criminal neglect after pleading guilty for the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The fines is largest in US history.
